I Believe My Aunt’s Murder was covered up by the Albany Police and the Media, and her murder was seen as as collateral damage of Operation Mockingbird. To spare the exposure of the program and the careers of two governors and the Tuffey dynasty. And I have the receipts to prove it.
Now that the election is over, and it’s clear that cooperation from the media or law enforcement regarding my Aunt Rosetta’s cold case is not forthcoming, I think it’s time to share the more controversial aspects of my findings. First, let’s address the elephant in the room: Operation Mockingbird, a CIA initiative during the Cold War to manipulate media narratives.
This program has been well-documented in declassified records and analyzed by credible sources like the Smithsonian Magazine and the National Security Archive. While I don’t want to fuel conspiracy theories, there’s enough historical evidence to suggest the media’s role in shaping public perception during that era.
My findings connect these tactics to my aunt’s case-not in a way that’s far-fetched, but as part of a pattern of systemic cover-ups that served political ends. My Family’s Role in the Silence I have to say, the biggest disappointment has been my own family. While my aunts and uncles-Rosetta’s siblings-have been supportive, my cousins, siblings, and more distant relatives have shown a staggering lack of engagement.
This isn’t about some tragic estrangement. It’s more like peeling off a bandage hiding a festering wound. Generational trauma plays a role, and I acknowledge that. But trauma doesn’t excuse apathy. If those closest to us can’t muster the energy to support our fight for truth, why would strangers care?
Thankfully, I’ve found allies among people who know the pain of losing a loved one to violence.
The Case Against Willie Thomas and Systemic Cover-Ups
Here’s what we know about the case:
- Willie Thomas, aka Wesley Mallory, was a known strangler, yet he was released after Rosetta’s murder in 1957.
- Then-Chief of Police John P. Tuffey, who had a direct hand in freeing Mallory in 1951 as part of Cold War propaganda, also investigated Rosetta’s case-a glaring conflict of interest.
- Despite interviewing dozens of witnesses and supposedly conducting a thorough investigation, Tuffey claimed to be “stumped.”
- Yet, 67 years later, my family’s attempts to follow up have been met with silence, misdirection, and denial. Let’s connect this to Operation Mockingbird: the Cold War context shaped narratives to serve political goals, even at the expense of justice.
- Mallory, a Black man with a second-grade education, was used as a pawn to discredit the NAACP and deflect criticism of chain gangs in the South.
This wasn’t about justice-it was about optics. And my aunt’s case, with its racial and political undertones, became collateral damage in a much larger game.
A Personal Appeal to #RFKJr and Others Who Understand the Never-Ending Pain of Loss
The pain of barely knowing a parent or sibling who was taken because of someone’s choice is unspeakable. It impacts those who knew them-and those who didn’t-for generations. That trauma doesn’t just disappear. RFK Jr., if you’re listening,
I may not agree with your politics, but I believe there are many on the side of the truth no matter what our political beliefs. I believe you understand this deeply.
Like your father’s assassination, my aunt’s murder has left a hole in our family. Imagine being a Black family in the 1950s, carrying the compounded burdens of racism, poverty, and a devastating loss.
My grandparents raised 11 children plus Rosetta’s four, all while being denied justice. For 67 years, this unresolved pain has shaped and scarred us. We need access to the evidence withheld from us-including a missing coroner’s report and a denied FOIA request, citing an “ongoing investigation” after 67 years.
Your voice and influence could help break through the barriers of silence and systemic corruption.
Why This Matters Today This isn’t just about uncovering one family’s truth; it’s about addressing the larger issues of corruption, media manipulation, and the human cost of political machinations.

If you’re a cold case investigator or civil rights attorney, I urge you to join this fight. Together, let’s uncover the truth-not just for Rosetta, but for the many families like ours. Justice delayed is not justice denied if we keep fighting. Let’s move forward with purpose and compassion.
